- Stray Cats Support 32 Students During Successful Winter Season

Stray Cats members supported participation of 32 students in 12 different activities/athletics at Lakeville South and Lakeville North during the recently concluded winter season. A total of $3657.50 was distributed in total, all made possible through membership fees of Stray Cats members.

The Lakeville Stray Cats was formed to ensure students in Lakeville Area Schools could overcome any financial barrier to participation in athletics and activities. During the current school year requests were approved for the Fall Play, DECA State tournament, and Fitness Center, along with Wrestling, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Boys Swimming/Diving, Olympic Weightlifting, Competitive Cheerleading, Dance, Gymnastics and Nordic Skiing. Middle School participants were supported with a $750 appropriation to assist with numerous students activity fees. Keeping students participating at this level is important to their development and there is direct evidence that students were able to participate due to support from the Stray Cats.
For a $100 donation, Stray Cats members receive a pass allowing free entrance to all home Lakeville North and Lakeville South athletic contests and activities such as music and theatre events. Stray Cats memberships is open to persons who do not have children currently in Lakeville Area Public Schools who pay the $100 fee and support the cause.
It should be known that the Stray Cats is a volunteer organization that returns all money raised to support student participation in activities. New and returning members who cannot attend the social can mail their $100 check to Lakeville Stray Cats, c/o Brian Knapp, 17336 Layton Path, Lakeville, MN 55044.
